Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I think i have made a big progression, i can see this because my preliminary task i only had a basic under standing of the use of technologies i used. The masthead was not big enough or bold which didnt stick out for the reader. I chose to start a new style for my music magazine by putting the masthead in the corner instead of the middle, which give it that more stand out effect. As you can see on my preliminary task you can hardly see the headlines and what they were about, but I have changed this on my music magazine, by filling every gap with bold writting. However I used two subsidiary images which was a good idea but they were plain and they arent as bold as they could of been. However i have learnt mistakes and built up my confidence from the perliminary task to make a successful music magazine, with bold and eye catching headlines and images. I feel that i have progressed well and is happy with my final product and that it actually looks like a music magazine!

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Producing my media product i used a variety of technologies. I used a programme called 'Adobe In design' after alot of practice i became familiar with the programme and this is allowed me to design and function a layout for the magazine. It also helped me to make the mastheads and sell lines  bold and attractive.

I used a 10.0 megapixel camera to make the photos  as effective as i could for my magazine, the higher the megapixel the better the standard of the picture would be so this was a good idea to use a high pixel camera.
If i wanted to edit my picture i would use the programme Paint shop pro, i used this to remove the backgrounds of my pictures this was because the back ground wasnt appropriate for the magazine which made the picture look even better.

Another programme i used was abobe bridge which allowed me to bridge the photos from the camera over on to the programme adobe in design

Finally the last programme i used was the internet, the internet allowed me access to get ideas, research and prompt me as i went along.

All this played an important role in the making of my product without these this wouldnt of been possible.

How did you attract/address your audience?

I attracted my target audience by putting a role model alike on the front cover of my magazine, this will attract my target audience because they want to be similar and as successful as the model on the front page.
I used myself as a base to produce the target audience, misson statement and reader profile this was because i knew many people who enjoys the type of music i do like R&B and 'Pop'.
When i was researching for music magazines i noticed that there was no brightly coloured magazine and were usually just one genre for example 'Rock' so i wanted to introduce something new and something that girls can read that's why i produced a colour scheme of pink, yellow and white because it stands out more and looks more colourful which will more likely attract the target audience. I used sell names of artists that the target audience likes listening to to attract them to read and find information out about their favourite artist and kind of music.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

If my media product was to be published it would have to be distributed and i would have FRONTLINE  to do this. There is a process of which the magazine would have to go through.

1.Publisher ->2. Distributor ->3.Wholesaler -> 4.Retailer ->5.Consumer
   (Bauer)         (Frontline)                                (Shops)          (People)

Bauer the Publisher is in partnership with frontline who is the Distirubtor.

Frontline sells 160 magazine titles, 54 big ones including 'Q'  and 8,000,000 magazines are sold every week! and send copies of the magazines to 55,000 shops. Frontlines job is to mazimize the sales of its magazines in the most cost effective way to make sure the music magazine industry wont die out.

This shows that frontline is a trustworthy distrubution, and this proves that my magazine would be secure and succesful.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media product has pictures of young fashionable teenage girls through out the magazine which represents the social group who will be a fan of my media product. I have targeted a younger age group and mostly targeted one gender (female) for my magazine this is evidential from the colour scheme and the genre of music of the magazine which is pop and r&b.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My front cover

My media product conforms the convection's of a real magazine cover because of the bold masthead which indicates the title of the magazine, the masthead is also in an convectional place situated in the left corner because you can see it clearly and is similar to the 'Q' masthead and 'NME' which is wear i got some of my ideas from for the front cover of my music magazine. There is also sell lines an Paul quotes on my front cover which are in bold and some are which in quotation marks to attract the readers attention so they would want to read about more of the story with the main image situated next to one of my sell lines to indicate that it is the main story in the magazine. The main image has a prop of a trophy which also suggests what the main story is about. Also on my front cover i chose to have one subsidiary image because i felt that my main image was big and to many subsidiary images would clutter the page. My subsidiary image also had  title to suggest what the story was about of the people in the image. Also to make my front cover look more professional i decided to put a banner on the bottom of the magazine along side with an issue date and a bar code.
Here are some music magazine front covers that i based my ideas from:

From this music magazine i have used the similar idea of the award badge and the banner, and i have focused on using a colour scheme of pink, yellow and white.

From this music magazine i have chose to use the similar style of only having one person as my main image as i think i stands out more.

Double page spread

My double page spread consisted one page with a big main image and another page with writing. This is what i chose from looking at other double page spreads from music magazines. Again my colour scheme is consent through out my product and I have used Paul quotes which will attracts the reader to the most interesting part of the story. I also put page numbers and a website on the bottom of the page to add the finishing touch.
Here is a double page spread that inspired me:
From this double page spread i chose to show questions like this one did to make it look more professional and realistic as though i had met the person and interviewed them. I liked the lay out of this double spread because its unusual.

Contents page

I thought i would make my contents page as conventional as possible, i used inspirations from 'Q' magazine, from writing the page number and the title with some detail underneath. I chose to put the front cover image in the right hand top corner to show that the front page matchs the contents page, i added small images as there was not much room to add big ones and at the end added again the page number and a website to make it look offical. However i didnt feel the need to make my contents page into a double page spread because i thought they looked better on one page and all the writing was in the right place.

Here are some contents pages that i got my ideas from:
